Put together Sarah Palin and John McCain, and you get a winning team I read with abject fascination the commentary (Her Voice, Sept. 13, "No warm fuzzies for GOP, woman VP or not") and could never have believed that a woman in the year 2008 would be so narrow-minded to write such drivel. Thank God, we live in a country that allows free speech to all of its citizens. We hear Sen. Barack Obama talk about the "change" that needs to take place in this country, but no one seems to be able to elaborate on what those changes are. Just what is the Democratic platform? Obama recently backed off his earlier pronouncements that he would, if elected, force the rich to carry a greater tax burden. Now he states that anyone making more than $250,000 a year will have to pay more taxes. Talk about an obvious lack of experience. I suggest that the senator go back to Economics 101 and pay better attention. If you increase the taxes to the "rich," the lower and middle classes will, in the end, carry a much high burden. The recent glut of foreclosures in San Joaquin County and all across this country are not the fault of the current administration. The fault for these problems lies with individuals purchasing more home than they could realistically afford and with unscrupulous mortgage companies who sold these folks the idea that paying only the interest on their home loans was a problem-free solution. As a matter of fact, President Bush is doing all he can to bail these people out of the messes they have made for themselves. Let’s be fair here. If you are going to blame the mortgage crisis on Bush, then you have to blame the Dot Bomb on former President Clinton, and that had a much greater impact on our economy. I am also very curious about the statement that Gov. Sarah Palin is ignoring women’s issues. I do not believe that being pro-life and pro-war are in direct conflict with each other. Wanting to keep our country and its citizens safe has nothing to do with being against abortion. And how do we know what kind of birth control education she gave to her daughter? Anyone who has raised a teenager knows that parents can teach and advise their kids until they are blue in the face, and those same children will turn around and do exactly as they please. Honestly, is this really a valid reason to claim that Palin is unfit for the vice presidency? Every new administration has its own ideas about how our country should be run and what is good for its citizens. Stating that a McCain-Palin administration is just a copycat of the Bush White House is completely unfair and the only response the Democrats seem to be able to come up with. Obama is, I believe, a good and decent man, but he is not qualified to run this country. Give me an elder statesman and a woman who is strong-minded, and I give you a winning combination. • Denise Snider has lived in Tracy for 16 years. The only thing Obama is going to change is the country for the worst! and change is all you will have left after 1,000,000,000,000.00 (That is ONE TRILLION) new Big Governmet Spending. We will all have to pay that. Get ready to have less $$$ and more pennies ![]() written by mark j , September 20, 2008 Typical bs from a Dumbocrat, yes Mark D. I am talking about you. You guys pick and choose what you want to hear. You make mention of Palins email usage. How about commenting on the criminal that hacked her email account? Where's your liberal buddies from the ACLU? Where are all your looney privacy advocates that despise the patriot act? I will bet my last dollar this crime was politically motivated by some left wing nut. Where's the outrage? If it happened to Obama the left would be raising hell. Hypocrits indeed!

I'll reduce taxes for 95% of you while increasing taxes on those making more than $250,000 and I'll raise taxes on business. Will they be targeted so people paying no taxes now pay less? Which businesses need to pay more? All, some? Will these increases be absorbed by the business or will they be passed on to consumers? Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, "no one knows what to do" Meanwhile, Bush/Cheney are overseeing the largest single socialization of American financial capacity in recorded history, trying to rescue us all from the blithering incompetence of Wall Street because the SEC and the Fed [Treasury] failed to regulate anything effectively (and the Dot Bomb implosion happened on Bush's watch, like the S&L failure happened on Reagan's watch...) Will George Bush be historically tied to this? Yes, it occurred during his administration. Will the 'Old' or 'Mainstream Media' investigate the: Who, What , Where, Why, When & How? Based upon the new media pressure... maybe Has lefty socialist MarkDavis any interest in the realities of what happened? Obama’s Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote It appears the Senate version is being pushed not only by Biden and Obama, a member of the committee, but Lugar, the ranking Republican member. A nice-sounding bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama, is up for a Senate vote on Thursday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. The bill, which has the support of many liberal religious groups, makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations. Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has not endorsed either Senator Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the presidential race. But on Thursday, February 14, he is trying to rush Obama's "Global Poverty Act" (S.2433) through his committee. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends. ![]() written by Ziggy , September 20, 2008 Let’s try this seceniro: Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam has said about Obama: “We are witnessing the phenomenal rise of a man of color in a country that has persecuted us because of our color. This young man is the hope of the entire world that America will change and be made better. Comparing
Fard Muhammad, founder of the Islam Nation to Obama: A black man with a white mother became a savior to us. A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall.” BE CAREFUL OF OBAMA ... READ THIS ! Now we have the Proverty Act of 2007 which has passed the Senate and the House and is awaiting the signature of the President. What would happen to the Bill if the President dose not sign it? After so long it would become law. If and when Obama is sworn in as President he would be seen as the Savior of the World. Right? Look and see just how much aid and assistance Kenya has asked for. I believe it is something like 27 BILLION DOLLARS. And who is the man trying to over throw the government of Kenya. Why it is Obama’s cousin Raile Odinga. Where do you think we might all be headed by to a sad state of affairs just like the Kenyans are. Read all of the Proverty Act. Nobody reading this knew who Sarah Palin was or anything about her a month ago. Think about that for a second. Even so, I don't have a problem with her as a VP choice. Why should anyone? We did, after all, used to have Dan Quayle in that office. I'm sure Palin is at least qualified to spell potato properly. And she doesn't have any holdings in companies making big bucks on wars she helped start (yet), so she's an improvement over the current office holder. Plus she's one hot sexy mama, which is the main reason why McCain picked her. It's hard to argue that the policies of the last eight years have done much good for this country. Wall St was allowed to run rampant, a record surplus became a record deficit, thanks in large part to the Bush tax cuts (on the wealthy), and we're spending $2 billion a week in Iraq, borrowing money from China and Russia to do so. Those are the policies McCain wants to continue. Ok. Putting the country in another direction is the change Obama's talking about. ![]() written by Steve Reshakis , September 20, 2008 Now he states that anyone making more than $250,000 a year will have to pay more taxes.

http://www.barackobamatest.com/ ![]() written by timcase , September 21, 2008 Nice read Denise! The problem is you used too much "common sense" in writing your op-ed. "Common Sense" is way too foreign for the left. They seem to be lacking it.
I knew your letter was going to enrage the left because it makes too much sense. The left has also got to be the most gullible, mindless folks to think that by taxing the folks making over $250,000, taxing the oil companies with a windfall profits tax and letting all the Bush tax cuts expire will PAY FOR an economic stimulus package(WELFARE)of $1200 to the 40% of Americans who pay NO federal tax along with FREE Health Care for all of us (and pay the 800,000 new government jobs that will be created to administer and oversee FREE Health Care) and balance the budget. The left has to be MORONS to believe this garbage spewing from Obama and Biden's mouths. Of course, we also must not forget that we need to be patriots and pay more taxes. Biden claims he was talking about the rich when he made these comments but if they get elected we will all very quickly realize that if you make $40,000 a year you will now be considered RICH because your taxes are going to increase dramatically to pay for their socialistic policy and "redistribution of wealth" as BIDEN has bluntly stated just a few days ago. What a bunch of idiotic people who actually believe this crap that comes from Obama's and Biden's mouths. And it seems to be 50% or MORE in this country believe it. What a bunch of ignorant fools! Our college students on campuses across the nation love Obama but when shown a picture of Joe Biden, they have NO CLUE who the guy in the picture is. They are truly products of the GREAT SOCIETY. On some campuses students state will definitely support the Democrats and they have NO CLUE who Barack Obama is! And these folks will vote for him because he has a (D) or (Democrat) next to his name. It also doesn't mean that TP, the owner of this comment section, is under any obligation to print anything you write or to leave anything up that you may have written. Let's repeat: a former beauty queen and sports reporter, who the GOP want for the second-in-line for the presidency, in this global age, didn't do any international travel for decades.
The problem, as far as our political process is concerned, is that half the electorate revels in Palin's lack of intellectual qualifications. When it comes to politics, there is a mad love of mediocrity in this country. "They think they're better than you!" is the refrain that (highly competent and cynical) Republican strategists have set loose among the crowd, and the crowd has grown drunk on it once again. "Sarah Palin is an ordinary person!" Ask yourself: how has "elitism" become a bad word in American politics? There is simply no other walk of life in which extraordinary talent and rigorous training are denigrated. We want elite pilots to fly our planes, elite troops to undertake our most critical missions, elite athletes to represent us in competition and elite scientists to devote the most productive years of their lives to curing our diseases. And yet, when it comes time to vest people with even greater responsibilities, we consider it a virtue to shun any and all standards of excellence. When it comes to choosing the people whose thoughts and actions will decide the fates of millions, then we suddenly want someone just like us, someone fit to have a beer with, someone down-to-earth—in fact, almost anyone, provided that he or she doesn't seem too intelligent or well educated. Why is this? ![]() written by cherim , September 23, 2008 Cat,

Sent: Saturday, September 20, 2008 12:44 PMSubject: Let Me Share With You Let me share some info with you that I have gotten from excellent sources within the DNC: On or about October 5th, Biden will excuse himself from the ticket, citing health problems, and he will be replaced by Hillary. This is timed to occur after the VP debate on 10/2. There have been talks all weekend about how to proceed with this info. generally, the feeling is that we should all go ahead and get it out there to as many blog sites and personal email lists as is possible. I have already seen a few short blurbs about this - the "health problem" cited in those articles was aneurysm. Probably many of you have heard the same rumblings. However, at this point, with this inside info from the DNC, it looks like this Obama strategy will be a go. Therefore, it seems that the best strategy is to get out in front of this Obama maneuver, spell it out in detail, and thereby expose it for the grand manipulation that it is. So, let's start mixing this one up and cut the Obamites off at the pass - send this info out to as many people as you can - post about it on websites and blogs - etc etc ![]() written by margy , September 23, 2008 Now that we see John Mccain talking about "change" and being the

Mr. McCain, the Republican candidate for president, has recently begun campaigning as a critic of the two companies and the lobbying army that helped them evade greater regulation as they began buying riskier mortgages with implicit federal backing. He and his Democratic rival, Senator Barack Obama, have donors and advisers who are tied to the companies. But last week the McCain campaign stepped up a running battle of guilt by association when it began broadcasting commercials trying to link Mr. Obama directly to the government bailout of the mortgage giants this month by charging that he takes advice from Fannie Mae’s former chief executive, Franklin Raines, an assertion both Mr. Raines and the Obama campaign dispute ![]() written by margy , September 23, 2008 Hey remember all that blog about Obama and Fannie and Freddie?
Incensed by the advertisements, several current and former executives of the companies came forward to discuss the role that Rick Davis, Mr. McCain’s campaign manager and longtime adviser, played in helping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac beat back regulatory challenges when he served as president of their advocacy group, the Homeownership Alliance, formed in the summer of 2000. Some who came forward were Democrats, but Republicans, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed their descriptions. “The value that he brought to the relationship was the closeness to Senator McCain and the possibility that Senator McCain was going to run for president again,” said Robert McCarson, a former spokesman for Fannie Mae, who said that while he worked there from 2000 to 2002, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac together paid Mr. Davis’s firm $35,000 a month. Mr. Davis “didn’t really do anything,” Mr. McCarson, a Democrat, said. Mr. Davis’s role with the group has bubbled up as an issue in the campaign, but the extent of his compensation and the details of his role have not been reported previously. ![]() written by margy , September 23, 2008 The federal bailout of the two mortgage giants has become an emblem of what critics say is the outdated or inadequate regulatory system that allowed the financial system to slide into crisis this summer.
At the time that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac recruited Mr. Davis to run the Homeownership Alliance in 2000, they were under new pressure from private industry rivals and deregulation-minded Republicans who argued that the two companies’ federal sponsorship gave them an unfair advantage and put taxpayers at risk. Critics of the companies had formed their own Washington-based advocacy group, FM Watch. They were pushing for regulations that would deter the companies from expanding into new areas, including riskier and more profitable mortgages. Mr. Davis had recently returned to his lobbying firm from running Mr. McCain’s unexpectedly strong 2000 Republican primary campaign, which elevated Mr. McCain’s profile as a legislator and Mr. Davis’s as a lobbyist. “You can say what you want about free-market distortions, but people like the system because it gets them into houses cheap,” Mr. Davis said to Institutional Investor magazine in 2000, adding that he would run the advocacy group out of his Alexandria, Va., lobbying firm. ![]() written by Steve Reshakis , September 23, 2008 newsfarter says,,,"I might want to get a map"

heres your answer...The word has a different meaning than what you as a liberal thinks it does. We conservatives use the word, "elitist" in a negative context to describe the Harvard/Yale Ivy League Commie Morons who look their collective Pinko Noses down on the Unwashed masses of America's "Flyover country" Read David Horowitz's book "Radical Son" it will support every thing I have said. ( you havent got the guts) and for the word "Elitist" for liberals...well You wrongly decribed the Leftist understanding of the word by using it in the context of an Elite Pilot...etc an Elite pilot is a Posative term...you try to place Harvard's arrogant Pinko Morons in the same class as a top gun? I now know beyond a shadow of doubt that you are a leftist "usefull idiot"....a "tool" you prove it with your own words. is that honest enough? clear enough? I know!!! you suggest a book that I read!!! yes thats it!! tell me the book that will help me understand your understanding of the word "Elitist" from a Liberals Perspective!!! that will show me a thing or two!!! common newsfarter!!! a book!! name one you have read lately!!! help me out!!! McCain Attacks Wall Street Greed—While 83 Wall Street Lobbyists Work for His Campaign In the past few days, as the economic crisis has deepened, Senator John McCain has been decrying the excesses of Wall Street. At a campaign rally in Tampa on Tuesday, he vowed that he and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, if elected, "are going to put an end to the reckless conduct, corruption, and unbridled greed that have caused a crisis on Wall Street." He noted that the "foundation of our economy...has been put at risk by the greed and mismanagement of Wall Street and Washington." He blasted CEOs who "seem to escape the consequences." He denounced Wall Streeters who "dreamed up investment schemes that they themselves don't even understand" and who used "derivatives, credit default swaps, and mortgage-backed securities" to try "to make their own rules." He excoriated Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for gaming the system. And he slammed financial industry lobbyists for misguiding members of Congress. "I can promise you the days of dealing and special favors will soon be over in Washington." On Wednesday morning, after the federal government committed $85 billion to prevent the collapse of the American International Group (AIG) insurance conglomerate, McCain again assailed irresponsible corporate executives. "We need to change the way Washington and Wall Street does business," he proclaimed. McCain has been quick with fiery, populist-tinged speeches. But one thing has been missing: any acknowledgment that McCain's own campaign has been loaded with the type of people he's been denouncing. (The McCain campaign did not respond to a request for comment; we will update the post if they do.) ![]() written by Mikem , September 23, 2008 WHAT ABOUT THESE ELITISTS LOOKING DOWN THEIR NOSES AT THE AMEICAN
TAX PAYERS TO PAY OFF THEIR GAMBLING DEPTS ON WALLSTREET!!!!!! As Mother Jones previously reported, former Senator Phil Gramm, McCain's onetime campaign chairman, used a backroom maneuver in late 2000 to slip into law a bill that kept credit default swaps unregulated. These financial instruments greased the way to the subprime meltdown that has led to today's economic crisis. Several of McCain's most senior campaign aides have lobbied for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And the Democratic National Committee, using publicly available records, has identified 177 lobbyists working for the McCain campaign as either aides, policy advisers, or fundraisers. Of those 177 lobbyists, according to a Mother Jones review of Senate and House records, at least 83 have in recent years lobbied for the financial industry McCain now attacks. These are high-paid influence-peddlers who have been working the corridors of the nation's capital to win favors and special treatment for investment banks, securities firms, hedge funds, accounting outfits, and insurance companies. Their clients have included AIG, the newest symbol of corporate excess; Lehman Brothers, which filed for bankruptcy on Monday sending the stock market into a tailspin; Merrill Lynch, which was bought out by Bank of America this week; and Washington Mutual, the banking giant that could be the next to fall. Among these 83 lobbyists are McCain's chief political adviser, Charlie Black (JP Morgan, Washington Mutual Bank, Freddie Mac, Mortgage Bankers Association of America); McCain's national finance co-chairman, Wayne Berman (AIG, Blackstone, Credit Suisse, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac); the campaign's congressional liaison, John Green (Carlyle Group, Citigroup, Icahn Associates, Fannie Mae); McCain's veep vetter, Arthur Culvahouse (Fannie Mae); and McCain's transition planning chief, William Timmons Sr. (Citigroup, Freddie Mac, Vanguard Group). ![]() written by Mikem , September 23, 2008 HEY ZIGGY!!! He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,”‘ Barack Obama’s running mate recently told the “CBS Evening News.” Except, Republican Herbert Hoover was in office when the stock market crashed in October 1929. There also was no television at the time; TV wasn’t introduced to the public until a decade later, at the 1939 World’s Fair. Too be continued ![]() written by bla , September 24, 2008 FDR was elected three years later when voters denied Hoover a second term. The Democratic challenger appealed to the “forgotten man” by promising a “new deal” to solve the Depression era.
Democrats usually like to remind the public that a Republican was president during the 1929 stock market crash. During the 2004 presidential election, John Kerry’s campaign repeatedly cited Hoover as the last president until George W. Bush to oversee a loss of jobs during his time in office. Biden was commenting on the stock market crash when he said leaders should explain the current economic crisis and how to solve it to the public. “Part of what being a leader does is to instill confidence, is to demonstrate what he or she knows what they are talking about and to communicating to people … this is how we can fix this,” Biden said. Biden’s spokesman, David Wade, countered: “I’m proud to say that we Democrats aren’t experts at Herbert Hoover depression economics like John McCain and his pals. From Franklin Roosevelt to Bill Clinton, we just get elected to clean up the economic mess these Republicans leave behind. Good one huh... On the other hand, it took a continued failure in the polls for McCain/Palin to suddenly become the candidates for change, claiming his years in Washington invert reality and make him an outsider. Meanwhile, Bush/Cheney are overseeing the largest single socialization of American financial capacity in recorded history, trying to rescue us all from the blithering incompetence of Wall Street because the SEC and the Fed failed to regulate anything effectively (and the Dot Bomb implosion happened on Bush's watch, like the S&L failure happened on Reagan's watch...)
As for Palin's shortcomings as a VP candidate, her obvious disinterest in foreign affairs, her hamfisted linking of Iraq to 9/11, and her declaration that war is God's plan (and then backtreading on that issue), dooms her to being called out as a fraud regardless of any personal issues she may bring to the table. We can pile on her use of personal email accounts to avoid public scrutiny, distortions on line-item funding in Alaska, and inquiries concerning banning books from libraries.
Finally, just her willingness to participate in a campaign that is so full of lies that they can't even formulate a coherent platform, dooms her to bland ineffectiveness. Unfortunately, this is just like McCain--once a maverick, now the master of the Wiggly-Talk Express.
